Roll on 2020

As the two ‘not sisters’ sit replete with mince pies, we’ve just remembered that we haven’t thanked all those who made the trek to Ealing Beat. We had a great time, enjoyed making new friends and greeting returnees.

The jury’s out on whether we’ll do it for a third year or take a year out but we’ll keep you informed. It all depends on whether we encounter more leaky roofs, ceilings falling down, knee surgery and such like – yes, it’s been our ‘annus horribilis’.

Roll on 2020, and lots more painting experimentation.

How not to run a website (or plan for an exhibition).

  1. Ignore your website for a year
  2. Try to burn your house down before Christmas
  3. Do your knees in so that you can’t get out of the house
  4. Sit with commissions from the previous BEAT waiting to be painted

Yes, it’s that time of year again. The ‘not’ sisters are frantically trying to mount/frame paintings and remember how to update their website. No, it’s not working. Just can’t remember what our webmaster told us.

Still, if any friends, family or don’t knows are happy to support us again we’ll be exceedingly happy to see you at

St Aidan’s Hall

St Andrew’s URC Church

Mount Park Road

London W5 2RS

on Friday 13th September between 6pm and 8pm (preview with refreshments) and Saturday 14th September between 10am and 4pm. The nearest tube is Ealing Broadway.

Louella will be outside, tripping unwary pedestrians up with her crutches so that they have to come in to recover. See you at the end of the week!

Thank You

Thank you!

Phew! Well thank goodness that’s over. A very big thank-you to everyone who came to visit us. It was great to see you all and you really helped to make the day fun rather than nerve-wracking.

If it wasn’t for a dose of labyrinthitis, at least one of us would have enjoyed it even more rather than wishing to curl up under the table.

It was quite an experience but we had lots of good feedback and comments and plenty for us to think about before we do another one!! (Really? Yes, really.)

Our next step will be to add a gallery of our artwork to the site, but that might take a week or so.

Thanks once again for all your support.

It’s the countdown to 15th September: countless paintings to mount, frame and generally organise. Not to mention how two hapless artists are going to organise their tables. And that goes without trying to tempt friends, family and people who walk by in the street to come in and have a look.

Are we mad? Our teacher Mario would say no. It was he who prompted us and the rest in the class to sign up to Ealing Beat. Indeed, he’s threatening that he wants us to apply for the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition next year. Good luck with that Mario!

In the meantime we’re sticking, labelling, framing and panicking. If you see two straightjacketed ladies with blue in their hair next weekend you’ll know the worst has happened. But if you’ve some spare cash in your pocket and fancy buying some early Christmas presents then come along.  We come under the heading of the Fine Art Room, St Aidan’s Hall,  St Andrews URC Church, Mount Park Road W5 2RS.  Just look out for the balloons!
